from colour to scent - creating a bespoke package for Pantone’s brand extension into the fragrance market












Pantone LLC, an American colour standardisation company, has recently expanded its offerings into the lifestyle product category. The fragrance category offers potential for growth within the lifestyle product industry, with perfume brand extensions proving to be a “natural beneficiary” for established brands. 

Thus, Pantone has the capacity to extend its ability to draw emotional connections with colours to fragrances through emotive packaging design. 

The primary design objective was to create an enticing package for a lifestyle brand extension of Pantone that harnesses its existing brand identity. The designed package achieved this by integrating Pantone’s ‘iconic’ colour swatch square as the canvas for the visual identity of the package and embracing the brand’s descriptive language and use of imagery.
